The Home Aware HIV antibody test is a simple blood test which detects the presence of antibodies to HIV 1 and HIV 2. The HIV antibody is a protein naturally produced in the body in response to an infection by the HIV. The antibody screening test is important because it provides you with an early indication that you have been infected with the HIV. Early indication can help minimize the likelihood of developing an illness related to AIDS.

Test results are read visually after 15 minutes, without use of any instruments.

What will the test tell me?
A positive test result shows that the antibody has been found. If the person is tested positive, He / She need to contact to the physician immediately for confirmation of HIV by ELISA or Western Blot. Proper Counseling and help of person?s physician, conversion time of HIV into AIDS can be enhanced on health diet, Vitamin and medications.

A negative test result shows that the antibody has not been found. If you have any doubts or came in contact with any objects which spread HIV, perform the test again in 90 days and repeat in 180 days from the date of probable infection.

Home Aware Chlamydia and Gonorrhea urine / swab test is a rapid immunology- chromatographic test for the visual detection of Chlamydia trachoma antigen in either endocervical swab or urine specimens. This test adopts double sandwich method. When add exactly four drops of specimen to the sample well the specimen is absorbed into the device by capillary action, mixes with the antibody-dye conjugate, and flows across the pre-coated membrane.

Test results are read visually in 15 minutes and without use of any instruments.

What will the test tell me?
A positive test indicates an active infection that requires treatment with a course of antibiotics.

A negative test means only that there is no evidence of disease at the time of the test. It is important for those who are at increased risk of infection to have screening tests performed on a regular basis to check for possible exposure, especially since re-infection is common, particularly among teenagers.

If you are infected, your sexual partner(s) should also be tested and treated as well.

How Is Chlamydia and Gonorrhea Treated?
Chlamydia and Gonorrhea is treated by taking antibiotics. It is important to take all the medicine that is prescribed for you. It is also important that your sex partner(s) get treatment at the same time, otherwise, you will continue to re-infect each other. It is also recommended that you have another Aware Home test completed between 3 to 6 weeks after the completion of your antibiotics in order to be sure that the infection is gone.

PRECAUTIONS

  • Discard after first use. The test can only be used once.
  • Do not use test kit beyond the expiration date.
  • Do not use the kit if the pouch is punctured or not well sealed.
  • Keep out of children's reach.

STORAGE AND STABILITY
  • Store at 4°C to 30°C in the sealed pouch up to expiration date.
  • Keep away from sunlight, moisture and heat.
  • Use the test shortly after opening the pouch.
  • Do not freeze.

TEST PROCEDURE
  • When the test have been stored in a cold room, wait for it to reach room temperature (10-30°C).
  • Wash the hands thoroughly to avoid contamination of the specimen.
  • Open the pouch and place the cassette on a level surface.
  • Clean the area to be lanced with the alcohol pad. Wait for the area to dry completely (do not blow on it).
  • Use the safety lancet and pipette. The safety lancet can only be used once.
Twist off the protective cap, and then pull it straight out.
Press the lancet firmly against the puncture site to activate the device.
Gently apply intermittent pressure near the puncture site to obtain the required blood volume.

  • Squeeze the pipette together and collect blood by slowly releasing the pressure.
  • Add One drop of blood, from the pipette, to the round well of the cassette.
  • Wait 20 seconds.
  • Add Two drops of buffer solution, from the bottle, to the round well of the cassette
  • If the liquid is not moving across the membrane within one minute, add one more drop of buffer solution to the round well of the cassette.


HOW TO INTERPRET THE RESULT
Read the result 15 minutes after adding the buffer solution. Do not read the result after 20 minutes.

Positive (HIV infection):
Colored lines are visible in the control region and the test region. This means that infection by HIV is likely. As with a laboratory test it needs to be confirmed with a secondary test before a diagnosis can be made. Therefore it is very important that, in case of a positive result, another test is made at a clinic.

The intensity of the color of the lines varies due to different concentrations of HIV antibodies but also other blood values and therefore no meaning is attributed to line color intensity or width.

Negative (No HIV infection):
One colored line is visible in the control region and no colored line in the test region. This means that no HIV infection was detected.

Invalid:
There are no colored lines or only a colored line in the test region. The most common reason for an invalid test result is that the test procedure was not carried out properly.

SPECIMEN COLLECTION AND PREPARATION

A. Endocervical sample (Females)
Remove any excess mucus from the potentially infected site with the first swab, and then discard it. Insert the second swab into the endocervical canal until most of the tip is no longer visible; Rotate the swab for 15-30 seconds. Carefully withdraw the swab without touching the vaginal surface.

B. Endourethral sample (Males)
Insert the swab into the urethra of the penis and rotate for 3-5 seconds and withdraw.

C. Urine specimen
Collect 20-40 mL urine specimen. First morning specimens are preferred.

TEST PROCEDURE
  • When the test has been stored in a cold room, wait for it to reach room temperature (10- 30°C).
  • Add 5 drops of reagent 1 to the extraction tube. Place the specimen swab in the tube and swirl thoroughly for 10 seconds. Leave at room temperature (10°-30°C) for 5 minutes, with the swab in the tube.
  • Swirl the swab 2-3 times for a few seconds during the extraction step, pressing it against the wall of the tube to expel the liquid and insure thorough contact of reagents and specimen.
  • At the end of the 5 minutes, thoroughly remove as much extract from the swab as possible by raising it above the liquid level and squeezing the extraction tube.
  • Remove swab and then add 5 drops of reagent 2.
  • The extract can remain at room temperature for up to 30 minutes without affecting the test results.
  • In the case of urine specimen, use the tube with precipitate for detection. Add 5 drops of reagent 1 into the tube and mix well. After 5 minutes, add 5 drops of reagent 2 and mix well.
  • Remove the test cassette from its sealed foil pouch by tearing at the notch. Dispense 4 drops of liquid from the extraction tube into the sample well of the test device by inverting and squeezing the tube.


HOW TO INTERPRET THE RESULT
Results can be read at 5-20 minutes. 20 minutes should be allowed to confirm a negative result.

Note: There is no meaning attributed to line color intensity or width.

Positive (Chlamydia infection):
Rose-pink bands are visible both in the control region and the test region. The sample should be considered positive for Chlamydia trachomatis.

Negative (no infection):
A rose-pink band is visible in the control region. No color band appears in the test region. The sample should be considered negative for Chlamydia trachomatis.

Invalid:
There are no colored lines or only a colored line in the test region. The most common reason for an invalid test result is that the test procedure was not carried out properly.
